Objects In Space

This is actually the same piece of paper, just front and back, which was used as a stencil for a piece that existed for about...a half hour. Just didn't like how it turned out...wasn't speaking to me at all and turned into this lovely dude...

Anyways...i never intend to use scraps like that as "work", but i do think its as valid as anything. Does it have the predetermined plan, purpose, meaning? No...but barely any of my work actually follows through exactly as planned. I don't think you can limit art to that which is originally intended to be art. I think it's more than that...it's seeing art in the ordinary...its creating art from the ordinary. At its base, art is something created...and who's to say that creation has to be totally intentional from the get-go?

For instance, the microwave oven as it is now was discovered by accident when a scientist working with microwaves (the actual waves) noticed a chocolate bar melting in his pocket. You wouldn't say that the microwave oven isn't an invention because it wasn't intended as that from the get-go...and I think the same can be said with art. These "tools" were never meant to be art themselves, but that doesn't mean they can't become it.
