Don't Sweat The Small Stuff

Bigger is better...except not all the time.
$40
As an artist, I always want to do something big, something impactful, something striking and attention getting. I want to throw down paint, have unlimited space and depth and create a piece that really envelopes the viewer.
$20
But it also is daunting. Sometimes, you don't have that idea that just excites you, that drive to make something huge. Sometimes, you don't have a specific goal when you start, and having a five foot canvas before you can really throw a wrench in that creative process. It puts on the pressure...it can lock you up.

From a viewer standpoint, bigger is better doesn't always hold up as well. Aside from the fact most people don't have many bare floor-to-ceiling walls in their apartment, most people can't afford the 500+ dollars for a large piece and many don't want one. Not everyone shares the idea that art covering everything is a good thing.
$10
And that's why I do the small stuff. It's freeing. It's unassuming. It's relaxed. It's natural. It's not as daunting to approach, throw away, buy, or paint over. It's more comfortable. And, in many cases, it's more practical as well.
$20
As I open my studio in the next few months, I hope to get more and more small stuff out and in the public eye, hopefully opening the door to a whole new market of young, art-interested people with a desire for good work. Take a look at this small selection of a TON of stuff that's hidden away in rolls of canvas and portfolios, all pretty small, all priced from $10 to  40$...

Art shouldn't be an impossible dream for the future...you just need to know where to look.
