It's been known that copper, through chemical reactions, could turn CO2 into methane, but with copper being as unstable as it is (The Statue of Liberty was not always green for instance), it was thought to be too slow and unpredictable, creating unwanted byproducts like formic acid.
New research, though, says that a hybrid copper-gold nano-particle is much better at the process and is far more stable, possibly opening a new door for lessening greenhouse gas emissions...
