The Series

I am proud and happy to report that I am going to be a doing a series of five ink on paper pieces for display in Cafe One24 in Brookfield, a "clean" restaurant serving dishes containing no preservatives, animal fat, bleaching, processing or pesticides. The pieces are going to be black and green (mostly) with hints of reds...
that's the first piece, standing at 30x40 inches. I'm pretty excited. Though the project is due fairly quickly, it gives me the chance to create a set of work for a specific place, aesthetic and atmosphere, and also challenges me to meet expectations of a client before the work actually exists. It's one of the first times I will actually get to carry out an entire series for display, and one that I plan on making some really striking work for.

There is an excitement and fear that comes with ink and paper. On one end, it's bold, flowing, and beautiful. On the other, its permanent, unpredictable in certain circumstances, and unforgiving. It's Economic Emotion. Bold Simplicity. It can be the medium of something awe-inspiring, and in the next moment be a pile of puke....Should be a great challenge and opportunity...keep an eye out for more work to come.
