Well....technically. According to scientists documenting the way Earth captures asteroids, they have come to the conclusion that, at any given time, the Earth should have at least one 1-meter sized asteroid orbiting around the planet, technically making it a temporary moon. These asteroids can very in size and for the amount of time that they orbit the planet, but most seem to hand out for around ten months.
It's not earth-shattering news by any means...there are literally uncountable tons of material zooming through space...but one implication this does bring up is our ability to locate and capture an asteroid to bring it back to earth. Knowing that there are objects regularly orbiting will give us reason to look, and also a reasonable chance to plan a mission for, given the right heads up.
Hopefully they choose to catch an asteroid that doesn't carry an alien plague.
