I think this ^ piece could be great if it was cropped or closely cropped near the bottom left and middle right... |
I guess calling this the second group is a little misleading, these are the second two pieces that will surround the first, larger piece from the previous post.
Anyways...I like these pieces. I just question how well they go with the first piece. These have a much more...gritty feel to them. The tiny bumps that line the edges of the black contrast with the smooth fade of the first piece. The larger black areas call a great deal of attention and are much more solid than the swoop of the orginial. They look permanent, printed, heavy, while the first piece seems to float above the paper.
These also have a bit of a "Rorschach" test look to them. They are much more physical, more iconic, stronger...and I still have yet to determine whether or not that's good for the series or not. Should i let the piece float...appear weightless and beautiful? Or should they state something. Should they stop people in their tracks as they try to decipher the imagery?
I suppose a great deal will be based on how the color part goes, but I still expect these to stand out a bit...to have their own weight. I guess it comes down to whether I think that weight throws off the balance of the series or, in fact, improves it.
