These Are The Homes We Live In.

Not inspired by the fire the other day, but rather timely, this piece is about comfort and home...and what that means to you. I think I have a troubled relationship with what I call "home." Not in the sense that I don't feel welcome or I have negative feelings toward them, but I tend to have a harder time adjusting to new "homes" especially in terms of embracing that as an extension of myself. It takes a while to break in a new home for me...

I think this painting reflects that. The center "home" is the most full, the most colored and has unique markings that begin in the center right. It's not totally colored or really fleshed out, but compared to the other "homes", this is most complete. I think the other "homes' stand for those that may not have been quite as long-standing..."homes" which I moved in and out of, but never really connected with. They are all at different stages, reflecting the different connection or lack-there-of....and I don't know if I want them to represent physical homes...or the idea of comfort...or the comfort of home you find in other things. You may not love your apartment, but adore your studio as your "home". I think that can apply here as well.
