In yet another delay, and a win for opponents, to the widely criticized Eisenhower memorial, designed by Frank Gehry, Congress gave an emphatic "no" to the request for nearly $60 million to begin construction. This is just the most recent in a long line of roadblocks for the Gehry-designed memorial, which has seen widespread criticism since it's design was released, including strong opposition from the Eisenhower family itself. Gehry has submitted redesigns meant to appease detractors, but so far, he has refused to remove its more controversial aspects. The design is now indefinitely on hold as it doesn't have the funding to begin construction.
