Be Casual.

The best thing about placements is that you have NO CLUE what happens to them after you place it. They could be there 3 years later, get moved to totally new location, get taken as decoration, or even get tossed a second after being placed. But I guess that's the point. Art does not have to be a blinding display on unimaginable inspiration, and it doesn't always need to be treated that way...

A great exercise for any art-interested person, whether you've been doing it for decades or placing pencil to paper for the first time, is to just make some care-free work. Something on a cheap surface...something on a found object...anything really...and you know you've succeeded if you can simply give it away, even to no one in particular. Nothing flushes out the artistic pressure like just doing art for the sake of it and forgetting the baggage that comes with. Be casual with your art from time to time. You might end up doing a piece you never expected, and you might just see your piece come to life in a way you never imagined.
