"I Want It All" Is the Coming Winter
The first looks like a tornado just blew through, the second looks like a blustery evening, and the third and most recent step looks like a tense night...the wind is picking up, the signs of a coming storm.... I like the last one and the tension that i feel with it. It's like the piece is about to erupt, gathering energy till the final domino falls and the springs release. The darkness seems to simultaneously restrain the color and punch the intensity. The vibrance is more apparent because of the greater sparsity. The first two are much more wild and obviously expressive, but I feel they lack the sophistication of the third. When the first two slap you right in the face, a quick jolt of attention, the third slugs you in the stomach, lingering for far longer and really grabbing your interest. More of an "awe" than a "cool", more moving than striking.
I'm interested to see if I continue to work on the piece and have really enjoyed watching it come together...I have yet to get a real "that's it!" moment with the piece, when I know for sure what I'm going for...it's been much more of a meandering journey.
