I think I reported on this a few months ago as they neared the top, but now Russian Scientists in Antarctica finally broke into a pristine 20 Million Year Old lake after four kilometers of drilling through ice over the past 30 years. Scientists hope to soon test the untouched water for life and bacteria, hoping that the findings will help in the search for life outside of our planet as well as help in our knowledge of climate change.
The lake is equal to the size of Lake Ontario and is one of the world's largest fresh water reservoirs. It is yet unknown as to whether any life, complex or simple, will be found in the lake.
