Starting a Trip With No Destination

You'll Find Heaven In The Mountains

We Set Out, Once With Folded Shirts

These two are a bit different from anything I've done before. They are small "drawings" on masonite covered in a thin layer of clay. I scratched into the surface, sometimes once, sometimes many times, created a number of marks, and then painted a wash of watered down acrylics over the entire surface. The liquid seeped into the cracks and, after letting it sit for a period of time, I wiped the liquid off, removing much of the wash but leaving small dark lines where the scratches were made, leaving imprints of the cloth where desired, and leaving darker smears in areas which absorbed the wash...

What results is some very informal and intimate pieces which feel worn and weathered, like objects left on a trail.....
