It doesn't take effect till June, and may take longer due to planned protests and challenges from opponents, but the Governor of Washington signed the bill into law, legalizing gay marriage in the state of Washington just a week after the bill passed the senate.

Personally, I think its moronic that things like this are really a question...that whole "equal rights" stuff in the constitution seems to tackle this issue as straightforwardly as possible (you know, equal rights for all people should mean equal rights for all people, but thats just my opinion)...but it's a step forward.
