Antoni Tapies, Spanish abstract painter, died Monday after a long illness. The artist was known worldwide throughout his working period and even opened a foundation in his name for the study of modern art. He was 88. Rest in Peace
To be perfectly honest, I don't know if I've ever heard of him, but looking through thumbnails and galleries, he definitely looks to be one deserving of more attention. I'll report back on that later.
