Living In The City

So here you can see the stages of "Living In The City" from start to finish...(at least from the start of this stage of the piece)

Simplify. That was the goal going back into this piece last night. I liked the energy....but it was just too much. Too wild. Too unfocused. The marks lost meaning...they lost each other. There was so much going on that you didn't look at what was before you, but you could do nothing but jump from mark to mark...whiz across the surface from one corner to the other, racing to find a mark more meaningful than the last...and it just never came.

But I like where this piece is now. Perhaps it needs just a couple more simplifications, some patches of color to further separate the buildings, but overall, I'm much happier with it at this stage.
