Cities of Sand

An update of my piece on the Nazca Lines, Cities of Sand. This started as a secondary piece (the other piece I worked on while I was waiting for "The Golden Age" to dry or whatnot)  but has really come together. I think the earthy tones and concentration on the line-work and mark-making sets this one apart to a degree from most of my work, connecting to the "raw" aesthetic that I've been using most recently. Eventually, I'd like to see a piece like this become a "sculptural"piece on wood. Actually digging into the surface, scratching, sanding, hammering to create these marks, then utilize washes and varnishes to get the different colors...maybe next week
