Although our work doesn't aesthetically resemble each other's at all, I find it interesting that we seem to both find symbolism and historical reference very important to our work. I can't exactly speak to why Stonehouse uses it thoroughly, but for me it creates a link that the viewer can grab onto. Something that their interest can build from and begin the investigation. The pondering might be fascinating, but you’ll never arrive at a definitive answer....we both use our work to create an open discussion. Something that will almost never end in a concrete definition, but will constantly change and meander as different people connect to different aspects, as different details latch on to our eccentricities...
