Til Death Do Us Part: The Story

Til' Death Do Us Part - 4x8' acrylic and oil pastel on wood.

I know I just posted these pics, but I thought I'd follow them up a little bit.

Me and Field Lehmann, met for the first time on Friday night around 8.30, had some power-bonding over a trip to the liquor store, and did a 2-second sketch of something that looked nothing like the thing above...then we started painting.

We laid down a quick layer of color patches with the vague idea of "Day of the Dead" type imagery in mind. We wanted it to be colorful, energetic, bold, and exciting, but really didn't have much of a plan other than that. We started on separate sides, worked them for a while, and then switched...and pretty much followed that routine for the next 3-4 hours.

Field and I had never met, had never worked together, and really had only glanced at each other's work through facebook just a few days prior to the event. I was tired from a day of work and three hours of gallery night, but we seemed to put aside everything that had happened the previous days and really just get down to some good ol' work.

Energy drinks downed and beer bottles open, we dove in.
