When London won the bid for the 2012 Olympics, Gallery owners let out a depressing sigh. Expectations for cultural organizations are down because of the games, and some fear that the event will keep cultural tourists away for months following, some expecting a hiatus for the entire year.
With the obvious backseat the galleries will take to the games, they also are worried about a decrease in grants and funding from government and corporations, increase in pricing of hotels and flights, decrease in attendance due to raised number of events and interests elsewhere, and a projected loss of 95% of the general european leisure tourism.
