I don't know if I've ever been as surprised and/or frightened as when Taylor Swift came up through the bottom of the stage and 20,000 people, from 10yr old girls to 16yr old guys and a bunch of parents, absolutely SCREAMED. I thought we might have a remake of The Who tragedy and I'd be one of those people crushed by the crowd. I mean, that little metal fence would do nothing to hold those people back and they were hysterical! Truly Hysterical. Nothing but me and a little fence stood between the fans and the stage and Taylor. If it came down to it, 1000 little girls could easily kill me to get to their idol. And not a tear would be shed (at least other than the ones meant for Taylor).
So the smoke cleared and there she was, literally four feet from me as I leaned on the edge of the stage and snapped pictures. True I wish the Iron and Wine show from Tuesday was switched and I was looking up at Beam and his "Hearty as Christmas" beard, but Swift would do too. Plus that feeling that I could have reached out a hand and caused some kind of mid-show catastrophe was pretty empowering... resist the temptation, RESIST!
Anyways, it was actually pretty cool. I didn't know a single word to any song...in fact Im not even sure I have ever heard her before...but just standing in front of 20,000 crazy people is a pretty interesting sight. How often can you lean on the stage of an act that sold out the Bradley Center, stand in front of people who paid upwards of 80$ to get that close, and not know a single thing about what you are about to see...and to give it the boot it was 100% free.
SO...things we learned from the Taylor Swift concert:
1. Taylor Swift is pretty darn good looking
2. Her songs are catchy as hell (and hell is damn catchy)
3. 20,000 screaming people is a terrifying sight/sound
4. It is possible to take over 300 photos in a time span of about six minutes.
5. I never EVER want to be between 10 yr old girls and their idol, I'll be ripped to shreds.
6. It was hot as F*** yesterday evening
literally four feet away...could have stolen her shoe |
