Baroque Canada?
For the millions of art fans around the world it is hard to find an artist with such dynamic light, composition and emotion than carravagio and for the twelve canadians not playing hockey or eating snow, there was never a better opportunity to see him. All joking aside Caravaggio is one of those great masters any person interested in art should seek out. His paintings are some of the darkest, most energetic, tumultuous and engaging you will ever see and, being that shows dedicated to him are rare in North America, this is a prime opportunity to view the art in all its glory. In this show, they are placing great works by the master next to paintings of the same subject by his followers; a great chance to compare and contrast the master with the students.
Sadly, from what I can find it looks like the only stop near us other than Ottawa is in Texas, and while that's no huge trip by any means, I'm not sure how realistic it is that I would actually go through all the planning to find myself there in the coming months. However, despite my lack of effort Im sure some you will muster up the energy. It truly is a once in a lifetime-type show and, if possible, you should get your eyes down to Fort Worth for some of the best art EVER CREATED!
Not to mention the man behind the work has some interesting stories as well.
