Back to Basics
Back by popular demand (from Rochester) is a new painting (not quite done) in my REALLLLLLLLLY old style that I painted in for the first few years. Now don't get me wrong, I realize this kinda stuff is on a different level from some of the more...well meaningful pieces, but beauty, nostalgia, and a sense of reality are also very important things in life. I haven't done anything like this in a while I did feel very comforted. I wasn't trying too hard to make something amazing, I wasn't concerned with making a piece that other artists would find "important." It was a piece meant to comfort, a piece meant to be pleasing. It may not be "the Devil and God" from a few days ago, but it has just as much of myself in it. It's what I saw driving between family gatherings, what I saw on the way to the cabin and camp, the regular on the way to something great and therefore, a bit of build up. The piece isn't meant to say "what does this say about humanity" it's meant as a link back to something simpler and a little more pleasant.
There's a lot of bad around us, and while we don't have to feel content or satisfied with how things are at the moment, we can at least be happy that we've gotten to this point and have the things that we do. Now I'm gonna go listen to some high school music and be nostalgic and shit.
