Boston University's Daily Free Press is facing ENORMOUS backlash over their annual April Fool's issue which featured a number of articles making light of assault and rape...

It's one of those stories where you just ask "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?" I mean really, think about it. Even for a college paper, you have the writers, the editors, the boss...someone had to look at this at some point throughout the production dept. and cringe...and if not, you have some writers and editors who, at the very least, are totally out of touch with what's "fair game" in terms of comedy...
I work at a paper...and I once got accused by a reader of "blurring out the black people's faces. " She felt it was racist and wanted an apology...I think we gave her one, but the second the phone hung up we all just stared in disbelief. Even if on the staff wanted to be racist, it'd NEVER make it past writers, production, editing, and the owners without being flagged, let alone sent to the printer for 60K copies to be made...
And really, it's one of those things where you get an apology and you just stand there...Why did it seem OK in the first place?
