The World Is Weird.
Tens of thousands of herring washed up onto a Norwegian beach, completely covering the sands for hundreds of yards. Scientists believe that a combination of things probably led to the beaching, citing storms and predators as their main suspects. However, as towns people discussed how to get rid of the problem, mother nature followed up the fishy situation (PUN!) by promptly reclaiming the 20 tons of fish overnight as if the planet was caught in some kind of "O crap, fish don't go there!" scenario...
Whether it was a freak storm, yet another sign for the end of the world, or fish simply forgetting that they can't breath air, It's just another example of how weird the natural world can be.
