...on tapestries? Would you be more or less willing to buy a painting if it was on loose canvas? What if the price was lower? If you could get a wall-tapestry sized original painting for a little more than the price of a normal, printed tapestry that you'd buy at a head-shop, would you go for the original or the printed, mass-produced guy? Is that even comparable in the minds of you, the consumer?
I don't know if I'd do it, but one thing I've been thinking of is painting more on loose canvas. Sure, you don't have the classy edge or the think stretchers, but a bare canvas on brick, wood, or even dry wall is really appealing to me. I've never been the type to require a frame and frankly, much of my work, I think, looks better without. It keeps the raw quality to it. Also, it provides the buyer a much more storable piece of work. While a canvas looks nice, they are really bad for storage unless you have a big house....
So anyways, I was just interesting in seeing what people thought. Is loose canvas a big turn-off when it comes to looking at a piece of artwork? Does it matter? Would you be more or less inclined to buy a piece, given the right price, if it was loose?
