The Art Hirst Has Stolen

There's tributes...there's inspiration....then there's stealing. And despite what Picasso once said "bad artists imitate, great artists steal", I will never feel like stealing an idea, imagery and reproducing such as your own is an artistic endeavor.  It's creative theft.

And honestly, anyone who goes about purposefully stealing other artists ideas, showing them as their own, not at the very least crediting them for inspiration, and overall treating them as a turn-style, seemingly thumbing their nose as if to say "Well, I'm freaking Damien Hirst. Who the hell are you?" does not make you an artist...it makes you a fraud.

Hirst once said "as an artist, you want people to tell you that you are great." Well, as an artist, you should also have a bit of integrity. Being told he's great may be enough for Hirst, I on the other hand, would much rather BE great.
