MLK for $10

If you tried to watch the "I Have a Dream" Speech to celebrate your MLK Day yesterday, you may have been sorely disappointed with a $10 charge. Apparently, because of copyright laws, the King family owns the rights to the speech for 70 years after the death of Martin Luther King Jr, and they charge $10 on their family website for watching the tape.

I'm not sure what this says. A. the copyright laws seem a little strange when someone "owns" a historical moment. or B.  have the King family lost a grasp on the message, the spirit of the message and the social (not financial) importance of the speech?
