I honestly don't know for sure...he's never coached the team I watch, I don't know him, and I don't read about him...but with all the hoopla surrounding his possible hiring, I finally looked into the guy.
Now..this is all stats based, so if he is just the BEST player coach or motivator or there were other circumstances beyond his control or something like that, the perception will get swayed. But I was really surprised, in a bad way, at his numbers...
total record: 147-126 .542
playoff record: 5-6 .455
Best Season: SB loss to Rams 1999
6 winning seasons out of 17
6 total PO appearances out of 17
3 first round/game exits
2 playoff trips in last 7 seasons
4 last place division finishes
3 first place division finishes
So...I guess I'm just asking the question...what makes Jeff Fisher so desirable? is it that he's just a great coach that the numbers don't do justice? Is the pool of coaches poor this year? Have we blinded from reality by the "legacy" of 17 years as a HC? Is he overrated?
Good thing these decisions are left to the suits in washington...or wherever he's getting hired.
