This is the tiger piece...but now it's starting to resemble more of fence type subject. I think the piece, at least in regards to my studio, is a bit to large to work on and visualize vertically, not a reason I usually use for deciding on orientation...but also something important as I don't want to 'force' the vertical, it being my normal tendency and comfort zone.
I think it's well on it's way. It's a tough piece to work on. Just moving as much as you do, as much paint as you need, as many marks as you need...it all adds a bit of uncomfortable-ness that just throws off the process a bit. It's trying. It doesn't quite feel as natural as I'd hoped. I had to really force myself to work on this over other work, but when you do get the marks in there, it creates a great depth and complexity that simply isn't possible on a small piece. I think it's just one of those that's going to take a few sessions before I get enough down to really have a feel for it.
