Before heading to its expansive new home in the meatpacking district, The Whitney is doing both a first and a last, exiting the Madison Avenue building with a huge splash. The Museum is set to host a massive Jeff Koons retrospective which will take up most of the museum except for the fifth floor, the first time a single artist has taken up so much room. Retrospectives for Koons have been attempted by a variety of large museums over the past decade or so, always seeming to fall flat due to expenses of producing the large artworks. Take a look...
