Goldfish Discussing What Drapes Should Fit The White House Windows

Goldfish Discussing What Drapes Should Fit The White House Windows  - After Matisse
This is the most recent piece I've worked on, finished last night...and not quite done, but close. Goldfish Discussing What Drapes Should Fit The White House Windows is about frivolity. There's not much on the planet that is less impactful than a pet goldfish and the same could be said about a goldfish's thoughts, whatever they may be.

And while the imagery definitely speaks to that reality, it's really a commentary on everything else. How anything viewed from the outside can seem totally irrelevant and meaningless. How frivolous much of our worries, thoughts, ideas, plans, and actions really are compared to those of people in...say, the Congo...even less fortunate parts of our country...even less fortunate parts of our city. It's a painting that is meant to make you laugh and realize the lack of importance...the lack of seriousness...but when applied to our lives, to our own fishbowls in which we live, we can see how the same could be said about us depending on the viewers perspective.

And as a last note, it's inspired by a Matisse.
