And I had another sale this week at Splash Studio...this time a piece that I REALLY liked and one that i am very happy that it got sold. Not that I dislike anything that i sell, but this piece really had a little spot in my heart for the last few months.
Titled Chase Your Tail, the piece was about repetition and based on the idea of tracing your steps. The idea came from animals, watching them pace about an area, wondering if there was a pattern, yearning to see what that image may be. I started with a few shapes I use often in my work and slowly traced them, connected them, added lines, and continuously re-traced. It became less of a conscious act, and more a meditative journey, discovering lines which captured my attention, certain areas that repelled me...
It became second nature...to the point where I was making the lines without thinking, without looking at composition, without thinking of the endpoint. In that, the inspiration became the process, retracing your steps simply by retracing them, not looking for an images, just letting your natural movements define what's already there.
Anyways, a great piece for a couple great people that I'm sure have found it a fantastic home. Take a look at the other sales from Splash and see my work up through the end of the month!
