The Real Energy Threat

We are always arguing about fossil fuels, renewable energy, and the threats and dangers we face for living so reliant on carbon based fuel. We are in wars, we budget, we conserve and promote new technologies....but the real threat is much closer to home and, actually, connected to each of us...the US power grid.

In what is probably the warmest June on record, our nations capital and other cities stretching from Ohio to West Virginia were plunged into darkness for over a week following a storm. With no electricity, internet, phone service, or air conditioning, millions suffered through the worst heat wave in years as if we were back in the early 20th century. And the federal government had nothing to say about it.

While our reliance on oil is bad, the ease at which anything or any person could apparently devastate our nation's ability to provide power is worse...take a look.
