Earliest Copy of the "Mona Lisa" Found.
The earliest copy of the "Mona Lisa" was discovered in Prado after closer inspection of the painting thought to have been painted long after the original. What they found after removing some dark overpainting, was that the piece, in fact, had been painted alongside the original, as it was, itself, being painted. The discovery gives new insight into a number of questions and concerns. One such insight, It gives us a view of a vibrant young Mona Lisa, free from the cracking and dark varnishes of the original.
Dozens of copies abound in Europe from the 16th and 17th centuries, but this, as far as we know, is the only one to have been made as the original developed...Check it out.
