There, In The Midst of It, The Soul That You Can See

Unfortunately getting ready for two shows in one week makes for a lack of extra time to get much down on canvas. Luckily I'm stubborn, don't need to sleep a ton, and was motivated enough to get at least 15 pieces framed and ready to go all while working on the above piece. By no means is it done and I hope to have it ready for the weekend, but I was happy with how it started. Again the piece speaks to experience. What it's like to be there "in the midst of it." The stress, the excitement, the anxiousness, the attempted calm, the perceived control...I wanted to do a portrait of a real life event, but not one event in particular. I wanted to do a "story" piece about something that may not yet have a story. "There In The Midst of It" is meant for the viewer to write the story themselves and see themselves in the portrait before them. There in the midst of it, the soul that you can see: who we are is released when we are at our most vulnerable.
