New Ai WeiWei exhibit focuses on his absence.


A new exhibit by famously detained chinese artist Ai WeiWei recently opened in Taiwan and the artist says that his inability to attend is part of the exhibit itself. While I obviously won't be going to Taiwan to see the show, I think the commentary on the restrictions of the artist and his ability to still create a new and cohesive show despite his detainment are powerful ideas that push the boundaries of what his government seem ready to confront, despite their efforts to silence the artist.
