Funniest thing I've read about the NFL yesterday...and true!

This is a pretty funny quick read about the Charger's and their God-awfully pathetic 2-minute drill to end the losing effort against the Jets yesterday...Quick stage-setting. Rivers v. Sanchez, Jets come from 21-10 down to take the lead, leaving the Chargers with 90 seconds to drive 80 yards and no timeouts...not exactly a guaranteed win for SD, but continue reading and you'll see what made this stand out to me...

Philip Rivers is the worst two-minute quarterback I've ever seen in my entire life. Like, Donovan McNabb is John Elway compared to him. What Rivers showed against the Jets made me realize why he chokes in the playoffs every year.

I still can't believe what I saw. Down six with about 90 seconds and no timeouts, Rivers had the ball on his own 24-yard line. He converted a first down, but wasted 17 seconds lining everyone up instead of spiking the ball. When he finally got the play off, he fired a 3-yard pass to a receiver who was tackled inbounds. After another lengthy delay, Rivers completed a similar pass to another target who once again couldn't get out of bounds.

After an incompletion, it was suddenly fourth down with about 20 seconds remaining. Rivers heaved a pass downfield that fell incomplete out of bounds. It looked like he wanted to call another play, but had to be told that his team turned it over on downs.

Like I said, McNabb's eight-minute drill in the Super Bowl was an upgrade over this. The only thing the Chargers can hang their hat on is that Rivers didn't vomit all over the field.

After this game ended, I sat and thought how pissed I'd be as a SD fan. Not that we lost the game, but that Rivers looked like A. he didn't know what he was supposed to be doing (get out of bounds)  and B. it was such a lackluster effort and reaction that I didn't think Rivers even looked like he cared.

the game ended with a feeling much like that of the GB/NE game last year when we wasted a good 30 sec on what could have been a game winning drive against the Pats with Matt Flynn...we had a good shot and wasted it because we weren't prepared for the situation and didn't execute greatly. The difference? Philip Rivers is supposed to be and should be better than Matt Flynn, and for a guy seven or so years in an offense with plenty of fourth quarter and PO experience, that drive was pathetic...
