I think I heard once that the studio is an extension of the artist himself and I'd have to agree. I was getting some grounds down on some canvas, painting over a couple old pieces, when I found that I had been painting my table random colors for at least a half hour and, actually, the table looks better than the paintings so far. Such is the struggle of starting a new piece...you can buy a big fancy canvas and spend hours looking at it, making a couple marks, painting over it a few times, and then you glance down to find that your pallette has better composition, color and relationships from blindly wiping brushes on it. Effin art.
