Global Warming Cancels Out Global Warming?

So this is kind of funny, weird and overall "Huh?"


Global Warming is a fact right? I mean i can't tell you how many melting glacier GIFs I've seen online, how much money has been poured into stopping it, and how much control the "green movement" has gotten in the last few years. I mean you can literally have taxes pay for a percentage of your new Chevy Volt. But wait, according to a recent study and even to some leading Global Warming supporters, there has been no increase in temperature of the earth since 1998....WHAT? no change? in 13 years? Did we fix it? What happened to the "greenhouse effect"?


Well the Global Warming people have an answer. According to them global warming is ever-present, just as dangerous and should be just as worrisome as ever, the cooling is simply a result of how much pollution the Chinese are pumping into the air. Ya, apparently if you pump enough pollution into the atmosphere, you will not only create global warming, but you will then counteract it and begin to reduce it. So basically, the cure to global warming is to pollute more?


The scientists that did the study don't see the results that way. They called the reasoning "totally unconvincing" and pointed out that, if the case was as they say, we should simply continue pumping pollution to keep global warming from continuing.


Well Im still a little confused. I don't know enough about the science to really poke holes in anything here. I can't read between the lines and figure out what's actually happening, but the scientists say to simply look at the data and the data says that the temperature hasn't risen since 1998.


Now I still think we need to stop polluting, be healthier and keep the planet healthier. There are real risks to the things human do on the Earth and once we go overboard, we could really be in trouble. But I have a hard time being alright with how much money, power and trust is going to this cause when we've been pushed and pushed into CO2=bad, human=bad, global warming=guaranteed, and then they come out and say...well I guess we are counteracting ourselves enough to stop temperature rise. I guess this last paragraph from the article says it well...


"This mistake is central to the IPCC’s case, not peripheral. It undermines the credibility of the case for urgent action against climate change and strongly supports the argument that, other things being equal, CO2 doubling will not cause more than a mild and net beneficial warming."


Anyways,  it's definitely no reason to stop being a "greener" society, but it is a reason to ask "who are we trusting for our information and is their information unbiased? Is their cause true? And are they really interested in the preservation of the planet or in the preservation and advancement of their own personal agenda?
