The Red
My newest "placement" piece is up called "The Red." It is basically a tree branch painted red placed back into the environment which it came. Simple idea, yes, but it is actually very striking when standing under the canopy. You see all this dark green and brown, shadows and wavering gleams of light and then a ray of vibrant red screaming in front of the shadows. It's surreal and beautiful, a very simple "enhancement" of a slice of nature within Milwaukee. I don't wanna say it's meaningful and symbolic or anything like that; it wasn't intended to be an environmental statement, but it does create an interesting conversation. It seems so out of place and fabricated, but at the same time it works almost in harmony with the forest...like it is decided to be it's featured piece, meant to bring attention to the woods themselves. It's manufactured quality helps you see the forest around for its natural beauty.
