Maybe that preacher was right and the rapture is coming...or else I've just gotten this spirituality kick in my art for some random reason. Not that they are religious or religiously motivated pieces, but a lot of my recent pieces have dealt, either in title or content, with god, blessing, rejoicing, mourning, and a general sense of spirituality in a humanistic sense. Maybe not thinking of belief in the line of religion, but more as it's role in the history of humanity...something's that's been happening as long as we've been here. Anyways, it has been resulting in some good, energetic work, especially the two big pieces from over the weekend and I've never really been one who gets concerned about the paths my art is taking. Something is always different around you and that something, large or small, can affect even the smallest part of you, bringing some new view, technique or idea that you may never have seen before.
The recent work is different, it's changing, but it's exciting. You never know what you're going to get and I suppose that, right now, is really driving me to create more and more. It's a little weird moving into some new realms, a little unsettling as you start to see something you have not quite seen in yourself yet, but it's always a step to the next thing. When the steps stop coming is when you have to start worrying....
some guy said "A wise man revels in the search for more knowledge, a fool revels in what he has already found." Balla!
