Robert Indiana Sued Over "LOVE"

Indiana's PREM in Sanscript

Pop artist Robert Indiana has been sued by a collector for, allegedly, authenticating a work titled PREM (the hindu word for "LOVE") and then retracting that authentication before the pieces went up at auction.  The suit involves dealer John Gilbert, an ex-business associate of Indiana's, who recently got out of his own lawsuit with the artist, ending with an agreement that Gilbert can no longer claim any affiliation with the artist and that "PREM" can no longer be attributed to Robert Indiana.

A previous judge ruled that Indiana only approved the PREM design with the traditional Sanscript characters, not english, which he was quoted as calling a "monstrosity."

Whatever the ruling ends up being, I'd suggest that Indiana get some new material anyway...
