Republican Representative Calls Out Ex-President Benefits

Back in 1958, ex-President Harry Truman couldn't afford to pay his bills. It was a sad reality to face, and thus Congress decided that it shouldn't happen. They decided that Presidents should get some taxpayer money after they leave the white house, anything from postage, to rent to phone charges and office assistants. It made sense then, when ex-pres's like Truman were struggling to get rent...but the practice continues to this day, cutting checks for $15K worth of postage for Jimmy Carter, $579K for Bill Clinton's rent, and $80K for W's phone bill.

With ex-President Clinton and Bush pulling in 10 and 15 Million last year respectively, one representative thinks we need to update the law...take a look.
