Two New Drawings

Moving West
Two new small drawings of pastel on acrylic

Panning for Gold in Jamestown
This piece was inspired by a documentary on the first three years of immigrants in Jamestown and the vast struggles and hardships they endured. They came on somewhat of a treasure hunt...a search for gold without the intention of setting up a permanent residence...and so were unprepared for what lay ahead, including a historic drought, a new landscape, and new enemies. They watched family and friends die as their settlement dwindled to near-nothing, yet the hard work, endurance, and creativity displayed by the few survivors laid the foundation for the country we know today...
