The widely-debated and much-criticized Eisenhower Memorial, designed by Frank Gehry has hit a new roadblock, with the project missing from the National Capital Planning Commission’s December agenda. While both sides seem to want the project to be finished eventually, both seem to see the importance of ironing out major differences before any construction begins, despite the disagreements. Take a look.

And then, for the people who yell "well what would be better, a normal old monument like everything already in DC?", I'd point you to the Louis Kahn designed FDR Park in New York...A great minimal contrast to the overly-detailed and specific nature of the proposed eisenhower memorial...

I read it in a previous article and I think the FDR park does this in a way Gehry's design can only dream of...but the quote was something like...A memorial should not tell you the story of a person's life but give you a sense of who the person was, what they stood for and the importance of their accomplishments
