I worked on a piece last night and, contrary to my usual method, I had a fairly exact goal in mind. Unfortunately, when this happens, it rarely ends up as good as I originally hoped....and though I eventually come to a good conclusion, the "figuring out" stage always seems to take a bit longer.

I think the main things that I'm not liking are the scale of the line, the concentration of the lines and the color...They are too condensed into one area where the reference image is more spread out with smaller marks and shapes; a better balance that what I see in my image.
I'm not ready to quite scrap the idea, but there's definitely work to be done...
