The Forgotten Village. The What.

The Forgotten Village. reveals a town seperated from the rest of the world...but why?
What is the object in the lower left? A gate meant to keep people out? A locked fence meant to keep people in? A temple to a god whihc distances them from those around? An empty temple which signifies a fall from grace? A cage containing something sacred? A cage holding something against its will? Holding someone?

What is the object that stands out from others and what does that mean to "the forgotten city"? How does the viewer's perception and understanding effect the meaining of a piece like this and does that make it more or less powerful? More or less interesting? more or less personal?

There is a concept here, to which I connect more readily...but like most of my art, I'd like you to work it out for yourself.
