GOP Passes Bill, Streetcar Stalled.

Democrats are pissed and Republicans feel they've done the people a solid...by passing new legislation, the GOP has drawn a line in the sand for the Milwaukee Streetcar Project, basically saying if Milwaukee wants to build a streetcar, they're welcome to do so...on their own. They will not be able to charge the costs of moving utilities to ratepayers around the area, as previously sought. Take a look

One senator said the motion was outrageous asking:

"What is next?" he said. "Tell Milwaukee how to pick up garbage?"

And while I will reserve judgement on this particular legislation till I read more, this statement was pretty unintentionally funny as I've had to call the Milwaukee garbage pickups countless times for not picking up my garbage for weeks at a time. Not the best comparison for his case as I (and the soggy mattress that's been on my curb for 6 months) would welcome anyone improving Milwaukee's garbage services.
