When the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial was unveiled, not everyone, as could be expected, liked what they saw.
Some said he looked angry...
some said he looked Asian...
some said the sculpture just wasn't graceful enough...
some had been angry since the artist, a member of the People's Republic of China who once sculpted Mao Zedong, was announced in the first place....
But one criticism really stood out to me...the fact that the quote on the right side of the memorial was never actually said by Martin Luther King Jr...but rather, it was a dumbed-down, in-eloquent paraphrase of a very good quote which lacked any of the arrogance of the newly sculpted phrase. With backlash headed by Maya Angelou, it's been announced that the quote will be removed, though, at a very high cost...take a look...

I am glad they are fixing it, but nearly a million dollars? Really? It's times like this that I want to look at whomever was in charge of designing, creating and approving the memorial and punch them square in the nose. HOW DO YOU APPROVE A QUOTE THAT WAS NEVER SAID!
Seriously....i get that people make mistakes...but if I put a thousand dollar ad in the paper with the wrong wording, it's a pretty big mistake if it makes it to press. How does a multi-million dollar project with years of planning, preparation and reviews screw up something so basic as using a quote that actually exists?
