When You Sit Atop A Mountain With Your Feet In A Stream

This was a piece I did while waiting for the "flowers" piece to dry. It's much more in tune with what I've been doing recently, and, I think with a little more white, does a great job depicting the themes of repetition, expression, and deterioration. I think a lot of my work deals with the idea of deterioration either in mind, body or soul...and recently, that's been applied to some more social issues as well. This piece, much like "Tall Walkers," is commenting on rising seas, creating a sort of personal connection with the viewer through the title, inserting them into the situation so that they can interpret the painting around them.

The idea of the imagery is some imagined future where the mountaintops just break the surface of the water. A time and place where the majesty of the mountain is lost, and the summit becomes the base. When you sit atop a mountain with your feet in a stream, there's no place to go to escape the rising tide.
